1. About these terms

These terms and conditions govern the use of this website and the sale of trading cards to HTB Trading Limited, trading as DOPA! Hong Kong (“HTB”, “we”, “us”), a company incorporated in Hong Kong with its registered office at Rm607, 6F Winfield Commercial Building, 6-8A Prat Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

HTB is an independent company operating in Hong Kong under a licence from DOPA!. It is a separate company from the company that operates DOPA! in Japan.

By creating an account or selling cards to us, you agree to these terms.

2. Your account and identity checks

  1. Accounts are created with a mobile number or email address verified by a one-time code sent by SMS, WhatsApp or email. Please keep your contact details up to date.
  2. You must be 18 or older to sell to us.
  3. Each time you sell to us, you must show a photo ID (Hong Kong Identity Card or passport). We record only the type and number of your ID. We do not take copies.
  4. We check the ID you show against your application and the details we have on record.
  5. If your ID changes (for example, it is renewed or replaced), you must register the new ID before your next sale.
  6. We use your ID details to verify your identity and to prevent the sale of stolen or counterfeit goods. See our Privacy Policy.
  7. You are responsible for keeping the details on your account (name and payout details) accurate.

3. Selling cards to us

  1. Our published buy prices are the prices we pay for cards in the stated condition on the day shown. Prices may change without notice; the price confirmed at appraisal applies. Cards marked “ASK” are quoted individually.
  2. An application on this website is a request for appraisal, not a sale.
  3. We aim to complete each sale of cards brought to our store, from appraisal to the conclusion of the sale, on the same day. However, if you bring a large number of items, if checking condition or authenticity takes time, or if you bring items close to closing time, we may tell you the appraisal result on a later day. In that case, we keep your items and let you know as soon as the result is ready.
  4. A sale is concluded when you approve the appraisal, either at the counter or through the online approval link we send you. Ownership of the cards passes to us at that time.
  5. The online approval deadline is 3 hours after we send the approval link, but no later than closing time that day. If we send the link less than 30 minutes before that time, or after it, the deadline is 30 minutes after we send it. The deadline (date and time) is stated in the message with your appraisal result.
  6. If you do not approve online by the deadline, or if we have not sent you an online approval link, please come to the counter before closing time on the day we tell you the appraisal result.
  7. Items appraised at our published buy price cannot be withdrawn once you hand them over. Items whose price we reduce for condition, and items not on our published buylist that we price individually, may be declined only at the counter before closing time on the day we tell you the appraisal result. Online approval is final and cannot be cancelled.
  8. You confirm that you own the cards, that they are genuine, and that they are not stolen, counterfeit or subject to any claim by another person. We may refuse any item at our discretion.
  9. Daily limits apply to each card and to our total purchases per day, on a first-come, first-served basis. Up to 20 items per customer per day. An online application is not a reservation. Once a limit is reached, we cannot buy the card (or any further cards) that day, and the items are returned to you.

4. Storage of items not purchased

  1. Items that are not purchased (items we decline to buy and items you decline to sell, “unsold items”) are handed back to you at the counter.
  2. If you do not collect unsold items, we keep them free of charge for 3 days from when we notify you that they have not been purchased.
  3. After that, a storage fee of HK$100 per day applies, for up to 30 days.
  4. If unsold items are not collected within 30 days, we may, after giving notice as required by law, dispose of or sell them and deduct the storage fees and our costs from the proceeds.

5. Payment

  1. We pay you as early as the same day and within 3 business days (excluding weekends and public holidays) after the sale is concluded. The expected payout date is shown on your appraisal statement.
  2. We pay by transfer to the FPS (Faster Payment System) number or bank account in Hong Kong that you registered. We may pay by another method only if we agree to it.
  3. We pay in cash only if the total of the sale is HK$5,000 or less and you collect it at the store on the day of the sale, subject to the cash available in store (up to HK$5,000 per person per day). Otherwise, including when you do not come back to the store that day, we pay by transfer as above.
  4. You are responsible for registering correct payout details. Our obligation to pay you is fulfilled when we send the payment to your registered payout details. We are not responsible for any delay or failure by the receiving bank after that.
  5. If you cannot see the payment, please contact us and we will provide a record of the transfer.

6. Counterfeit and stolen goods

If we suspect that any item is counterfeit or stolen, we may, even after the sale has been concluded or paid:

  1. withhold or cancel payment;
  2. require you to repay any amount already paid, including by setting it off against amounts payable to you for other sales; and
  3. report the matter to the police, cooperate with any investigation and hand the items over to the police.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account and refuse to deal with you, without prior notice, in the case of:

  1. fraud or dishonesty;
  2. false statements;
  3. bringing counterfeit or stolen goods; or
  4. any other breach of these terms.

Section 6 applies to any sale that is in progress or already completed.

8. Notifications

  1. We send transactional messages about your account and sales (verification codes, appraisal results, approval links, payment notices and similar) by WhatsApp, SMS or email. These are needed to process your sales and cannot be turned off.
  2. We send marketing messages (such as new arrivals, buy campaigns and events) only if you give your separate consent when creating your account or later in My page. You can withdraw your consent at any time in My page.

9. Limitation of liability

  1. We take reasonable care of items while they are in our possession for appraisal.
  2. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to a sale is limited to the appraisal amount of the items concerned or, before appraisal, our published buy price for those items.
  3. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or any loss of profit.
  4. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Hong Kong law.

10. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms at any time at our discretion. The version published on this website at the time of your sale applies.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the courts of Hong Kong have exclusive jurisdiction.
